Stayed here for a week with my family. It was wonderful. The owner is lovely and really helpful. The cottage was clean and tidy. I would highly recommend visiting. The views from the garden and the hot tub are stunning. The location is … More brilliant, it’s in the middle of everything and easy access to the main road but far enough to be nice and quiet. -

We stayed in eithiog cottage lovely bungalow style. Very clean on arrival gives you that country feel good to go out for the day then come back to peace and nice views. Hot tub here at this cottage which then owner come and clean everyday. … More He is a lovely elderly man very polite and respectful. These are self catering cottages including toilet roll he provided x2 per room but no more. He has a lovely dog who is friendly and can stroke him. Only 1 criticism is the en suite in the room does need upgrading and new shower and shower cubicle needs putting in as the en suite is abit dated but you can still use it for your business and washing. The owner of these properties has 3 in total 2 close together and 1 in a very remote area that he will drive you to. The owner of these properties does live in the same row as 2 as does wave if he is passing and your outside. Very lovely man and he does suggest to book through him direct as prices are slightly cheaper. We booked through cottages.com. these cottages are ina good area the roadd tot hen are lovely and newly tarmacked and plenty of passing places. Would visit here again and they do accept dogs here -

We had a lovely stay here at Helygen cottage, lovely and quiet just what we needed. Great views wherever you looked.
Red kites riding the thermals every day.
Helygen cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The owner, Evan, lives … More on site and is very friendly and helpful.
We could even stargaze from the hot tub at night.
It was overcast when the pictures were taken, but on a clear sunny day, the views were amazing. -

One of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. Beautiful location, out the way, yet close to all amenities by car. Only 15 mins away from Aberystwyth centre. The cottages are so peaceful and quiet, it was just a week of blissful … More peace away from the hum drum of work & life. Wonderful views from the hot tub over the valley and thankfully we had a great week for weather considering this was end of Feb beginning of March.
The cottages are dog friendly and I so enjoyed our morning walks down the lane with our dog in the sunshine with the stunning views while my wife got the bacon & eggs ready! 🐶 ⛰ 😍 🍳🥓
Mr Evans, the owner of the properties is a wonderful host and despite him living right next door, he never bothered us once but just told us if we needed anything just to come & ask.... Not that we did need anything, everything was there.
There are 2 cottages on the site and we stayed in Eithinog (the other one is Helygen) and we would definitely love to go back in the very near future.
Truly, a perfect week! -

We were lucky enough to visit this cottage last weekend, and we're glad we did. The cottage we stayed in was Eithinog, which is one of the two cottages.
We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack which was unnecessary but very much … More appreciated. After we settled in, Evan came to greet us and was the perfect host throughout. He lives next door, but he didn't impose on us at all, kindly greeting us with 'Bore da' in the mornings and only checking on us when we saw him passing with his dog.
The cottages are lovingly restored old barns, and the quality of the work is near enough perfect. There is nothing worse than a badly stocked kitchen, but we found it difficult to find anything missing from from this one. It has everything you'd need!
Although it was a very cold weekend outside, the cottage itself was very warm and cosy, and the hot tub at the end of our long days walking was just perfect! With amazing views over the quiet, rural hills. Not a sound could be heard, except the odd baaing sheep, and the distant sound of a nearby river.
Just 20mins drive from both Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, Talybont itself was very practical. It has a pub and a convenience store for those panic moments when you realise the wine supply is running low.
Covid safety was taken very seriously, with the property cleaned throughout before our arrival, and Evan keeping a social distance. The levels of infection in Ceredigion are incredibly low also, we were told.
We hope to visit again in the not to distant future, Evan!
Llechwedd Mawr Cottage – A Truly One-of-a-Kind Mountain Hideaway
If you’re seeking complete seclusion, Llechwedd Mawr offers a rare and remarkable escape. Located deep in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains — the most sparsely populated area in Wales — this remote, eco-friendly stone cottage stands entirely on its own, far from the noise and bustle of everyday life.
Don’t be fooled by its isolation; Llechwedd Mawr has all the modern comforts you need. Completely ‘off-grid,’ the cottage is powered by a bank of solar-charged batteries with generator backup. Satellite WiFi and phone service keep you connected if needed, though we recommend switching off and letting the peace sink in.
Inside, the cottage features three stylish bedrooms, an open-plan living/dining space with a wood-burning stove, slate flooring, leather sofas, and contemporary bath/shower rooms. The surrounding scenery is nothing short of spectacular, and with endless walking routes from the front door, you’ll find every excuse to get outside and explore.
Llechwedd Mawr is a Green Award Winner (Menter Aberystwyth 2019) and a Cottages.com Customers’ Choice Award winner for three consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023) — a true testament to its unique appeal.
